C Lazy U has been refining its kids’ program for more than half a century. The program revolves around horseback riding every day with swimming, table tennis, air hockey and billiards interspersed between rides. Counselors spend the day with children, even during nap time for the little ones. In summer, children will love the archery, scavenger hunts, Capture-the-Flag, volleyball, rowing boats, fishing, cookouts and hay rides. Winter brings ice skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing and sledding. The Teen Program includes off-site trips like hiking and overnight camping, white water rafting and heading off to a local rodeo. There is a nightly ice cream bar followed by activities for parents to participate in alongside their children. Programs are broken up into 3 age groups: 3 to 6, 7 to 12, and the Teen Program. Children must be at least 6 years old to horseback ride.
Fresh mountain air has a way of making great food, enjoyed with your favorite people, taste even better. The resident 4-star Ranch Chef prepares longtime favorites and delicious regional specialties including aged Western beef, Rocky Mountain trout and rosemary rack of lamb, accompanied by mouth-watering desserts, after-dinner drinks and fireside entertainment: the perfect opportunity to swap stories, share a laugh, meet new friends and get reacquainted with old ones. There is a cookout every Wednesday and Saturday night; all other dinners for adults are served family-style in the rustically elegant dining room, while family breakfasts and lunches, and dinner for children are served poolside.
With 8,000 pristine mountain acres right out the back door, C Lazy U offers limitless ways to enjoy life on the ranch. Horseback riding is the main focus here, but when you’re not in the saddle you can enjoy the pool and hot tub, competition-quality Laykold tennis courts; hop on a bicycle or take a yoga class. Trap shooting and archery are also part of the program, as is fly fishing in the C Lazy U private stream. In winter, choose from private snow cat skiing, a trip down the private luge run (which is really the driveway), ice hockey and ice skating on a Zamboni-groomed pond, plus snow tubing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. If you choose to splurge on spa appointments or offsite activities like hot air ballooning, golfing or white water rafting, the C Lazy U Concierge can assist with reservations and transportation.
