Amazing Iceland!

Amazing Iceland!

Member Relations Director Lauren Crowl recently returned from a luxury Iceland adventure and knows that Quintess members will love this unbelievable destination. Here’s what Lauren has to say about Iceland:

Keflavik airport is only about 30 minutes from the center of Reykjavik. We went directly to the Blue Lagoon to beat jet lag with a relaxing float in the healing waters. After soaking we ate dinner at LAVA, which is built into a lava cliff that overlooks the lagoon.

On the second day our incredible guide, Paul from HL Adventure, picked us up for our Golden Circle Tour of Iceland. Paul spent the day taking us from waterfalls to enormous volcanos, gigantic craters and geysers. We visited all of the popular Golden Circle sites including Gullfoss Waterfall and the Geysir geothermal areas. Paul also took us to a local greenhouse where we ate tomatoes off the vine and tried Icelandic tomato soup.

That evening we stayed at a charming home, Merkigil, in the small fishing town of Eyrarbakki. Merkigil is a renovated fishing lodge right on the coast. Dinner was at Red House. Our group is still dreaming about the Icelandic lobster dinner and my mouth waters just thinking about the lobster bisque!

The next day we snowmobiled up a mountain and onto the Langjokull Glacier. While the snowmobile ride was incredible, the drive up the mountain to the base was just as thrilling. Then at Thingvellir National Park we got to drink fresh water from a spring coming out of the lava fields. The park is filled with jaw-dropping cliffs, caves, and lava fields created by the tectonic rift between the American and European tectonic plates. Finally we returned to Reykjavik for sightseeing, shopping and dinner.

Iceland is a stunning country filled with endless adventures and contrasting landscapes. It’s for families, thrill seekers and nature lovers! There are limitless ways that this Iceland luxury adventure could be tailored to your group, activity level and interests. The entire experience was incredible and every view was simply breathtaking. I can’t imagine having done an Iceland adventure any other way. We loved getting the private attention of our guide and his knowledge was priceless. Everyone we met was kind, helpful and spoke English. I’d highly recommend Iceland to people of all ages and especially for nature lovers, families and anyone seeking outdoor adventure!
